If you’re like most mums, you’re probably thinking about clever ways of introducing more vegetables into your little munchkin’s diet 99% of the time.

Guess what --- you are not alone in this!

Unfortunately, getting your toddlers to eat their greens can be a challenge for most parents. Until now, that is.

This Green Smoothie is an easy-peasy, super healthy recipe that can nourish your family faster than you can say “spinach”.

Over at the WMBT HQ, we also like to call this recipe, the Everyday Smoothie.

Simply because this crowd-pleaser is something your kids will ask for EVERY SINGLE DAY. I kid you not, the little beasts love this at snack time as well!

Yes, they love the sweet creamy flavor --- leafy green veggie included.

The best part is, it’s also the ultimate time-saver on a hectic morning. No time to sit and eat? Just throw your smoothie in a reusable cup and head out the door!

We like to use the WMBT Silicone Grip Cup which is great for tiny hands that have graduated from using sippy cups. When taken to go, we just seal it with the WMBT Sippy Cup Lid & Straw for a no-spill option.

And then we happily slurp up our brekkie as we head to school, work, and morning errands!

Making Smoothie Magic

It doesn’t take much to get this kid-friendly Green Smoothie prepped and frozen, so it’s a fun activity for your kids to get involved in. It’s also a great way to encourage picky eaters to get excited about their next meal.

Let tiny hands help with identifying and washing the fruits! Simply gather all the ingredients beforehand so they can take turns throwing them into the blender.

Take extra care to blitz our ingredients until smooth. You can use a blender or food processor, either way you’ll end up with the same yummy results.

Pour the smoothie into silicone moulds to freeze. Our pick are these adorable WMBT freeze & bake poddies that come in all sorts of sweet shades and shapes.

Here’s what we love about it. It has 9 perfectly portioned, snack-sized pods which just makes life so much easier for busy mums! We’re leaving out the guesswork so every meal prep is like clockwork --- no wasted effort, and no leftovers taking up space in your fridge and freezer.

When little tummies start to call, simply pop out 2-3 poddies and blitz with your choice of liquid. Tadaa! A mouthwatering treat the whole family can enjoy.

A Cup Full Of Nature’s Goodness

This Green Smoothie recipe uses only 5 ingredients and yet it’s loaded with both taste and nutrients. A guaranteed winner for both grown-ups and growing munchkins!

Let’s break down all that goodness:

Avocado Loaded with protein, fiber, potassium, antioxidants, probiotics, omega-3's and a ton of vitamins and minerals. It also does a great job of adding healthy fat and potassium, giving your smoothie a creamy texture. Make sure you are using a ripe avocado with green flesh. No black or brown spots to avoid a bitter aftertaste.

Banana - The bigger the banana, the creamier and sweeter our smoothie will be. Bananas are also rich in vitamin B6, magnesium, and fiber.

Chia Seeds - Extra nutritional boost of protein and fiber! Not to mention, the chia seeds also help with keeping your little one feeling full until lunch or snack time.

Coconut WaterCoconut water provides a good amount of several nutrients, including vitamin C, magnesium, and potassium.

However, feel free to use any dairy or dairy-free milk your kid loves. Almond milk is another great option because it has no strong flavor and it’s light to digest.

Spinach - High in iron, it’s actually one of the most nutritious vegetables around. It’s also the mildest in flavor and blends into the smoothie much better than any other leafy greens.

Tips For The Perfect Green Smoothie For Kids

  • Adjust the amount of milk or water to fit your child’s preference. Use less to convert this smoothie drink into a smoothie bowl. Top with fixins like granola, oats or some sliced fruit.
  • Spinach blends really well. But if you do run into some trouble, you can try blitzing the spinach and water first to ensure a chunk-free smoothie.
  • Three words: Green Smoothie Popsicles!!!
